9/11 Attacks
September 11, 2001
One of the most memorable and lasting events in American history, on September 11, 2001, members of the extremist group Al-Queda hijacked airplanes and crashed them into the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and a field. There were 19 terrorists in total who hijacked four planes total, only one failed to hit its target because the passengers on board helped crash it to safe lives. Over 3000 people died during the attacks and thousands were injured, millions affected directly. 911 changed every aspect of American life. Many people noticed the huge increase in security at airports especially, and over all in the country. One of the most lasting affects of the attacks was the introduction of the Patriot Act which is still in use today and changed the worldwide gathering of information.
