Hurricane Katrina began to wreak havoc on the annually hurrican hit region of the Gulf Coast. This U.S natural disaster was the worst one in the countries' history with nearly 2,000 people killed and affected hundreds of thousands. It caused 100-140 mph winds and stretched 900 miles across. Overall 100 billion dollars of damage and cost was generated by the storm. People in Lousiana, Alabama and Mississippi were affected and forced to uproot from there homes and move away or face the storm head on. Katrina left a lasting affect on people all across the country and has been by far the most destructive natural disaster of the 21st century.
