- War in the Middle East
For hundreds of years the Middle Eastern region of the world has been full of war, turmoil, and corruption. The 1990's and 2000's brought no change with many revolutions, uprisings, wars, and military events taking place here. Starting with the Gulf War which involved more countries then any previous war since World War II. Beginning on August 2, 1990 and ending on February 28, 1991, 34 countries led by the United States went to war against and put embargos on Iraq. This was in response to Iraq invading and annexing Kuwait. The Iraq army was pushed out quickly by the alliance and Iraq was sanctioned. The War on Terror was started by president Bush following the 911 attacks, the initiative has taken down many extremist leaders such as Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein and is still active today.
